Will Divides $271,300  August 31, 1939, Courier Journal?

Sixteen nephews and nieces are named beneficiaries of the estate of Mrs. Annie Fontaine Phillips, valued at $271,300, under her will probated Thursday in County Court.  A $20,000 bequest was made to Morgan H. Fontaine, a brother, while two nephews, Ernest H. and Virgil Fontaine, receive $50,000 each, and another James W. Fontaine, $20,000.

The other nephews and nieces who were left $10,000 each, are: Edward B. , David, Jesse and Stith Fontaine, Beulah Hook, Diva Reeves, Ruth Scott, E. C. and Toka McGhee, Nell Jenkins, Eva Sandidge, Kate Kearns and Mary Fontaine McGuffin.

The estate consists of bonds valued at $251,800 and a cash account of $19,500.  The Kentucky Title Trust Company qualified as administrator, posting bond for $275,000.  Mrs. Phillips, 83, widow of Joseph M. Phillips, Chicago broker, died at the home of her brother, 648 Cecil, August 22.

       Shares in the $271,300 estate of Mrs. Annie Fontaine Phillips, who died August 22 at the home of her brother Morgan H. Fontaine, 648 Cecil, will go to the brother and sixteen nephews and nieces under provisions of her will probated Thursday in County Court

      A $20,000 bequest was made to Mr. Fontaine. Two nephews, Ernest H. Fontaine and Virgil Fontaine, receive $50,000 each and another, James W. Fontaine, $20,000.

       Other nephews and nieces, left $10,000 each, are Edward B. Fontaine, David Fontaine, Jesse Fontaine and Stith Fontaine, Beula Hook, Diva Reeves, Ruth Scott, E. C. McGhee and Toka McGhee, Nell Jenkins, Eva Sandidge, Kate Kearns and Maury Fontaine McGuffin.

      The Kentucky Title Trust Company qualified as administrator posting bond for $275,000. The estate includes bonds valued a $251,800 and a cash account of $19,500. Mrs. Phillips, 83, was the widow of Joseph M. Phililps, Chicago broker.

Not all the above listed were nieces and nephiews.  Some were brothers and sisters.
